Waiting for baby...

My bestest friend across all of Cleveland is waiting to have that baby in her belly.  I'm waiting too.  I'm kind of annoyed that the babe will probably make his/her presence known while I'm on vacation.  Sigh.
Can't wait to hear the news Meg!
For the record, I think it's a girl.
Which means it's probably a boy.
Can't wait!!!!

Mommy Pro-tip 413

Always serve your children oatmeal in their pajamas before putting on their VBS shirts and leaving the house....because, invariably, they will get oatmeal all over their clothing.
So if they eat first, then change, it will all work out perfectly.

Unless, of course, after changing and brushing their teeth, they come back down stairs and eat their remaining oatmeal and still leave the house looking like they rolled around in their breakfast.

You think you have it all under control...
Until you don't.

Soccer

Well look at this...Miss Addie tried her hand (or feet, rather) at SOCCER this spring...
It was a learning experience for all of us.
That's her with the bright pink shorts on. duh.

A big family means a big cheering section!

And even some animals to watch the game...

Sam gave the ball a few kicks too!
Did I mention the first day of soccer I didn't even know how to put on the shin guards (over or under the socks?), and I learned a few things about being a soccer Mom too....
That the parking lot is CrAzY between games, you need sun protection, and Mike is hilarious to watch spectate sports.  He was quite the heckler!  In a good way!
Addie,
We're really proud of your first soccer endeavor.  You got better each week and are fast!  We can't wait to see what the fall brings!

We were ALL IN!

We really loved watching the CAVS this season, and, truth be told, they kind of turned us into sports people.  If we were home and the CAVS were playing, we were watching.  We loved watching Lebron and his magic and falling in love with the camaraderie of the team.
Thanks for a great season CAVS!

And Meredith...I never did reply to your post months ago regarding the Lebron James shirt I gave away in the Grigger family white elephant exchange 5 years ago.  I'm glad Hannah has been using it as a paint shirt...and although I would have taken it back in a heartbeat, I did procure a new shirt!
:)  Thanks for the offer!

Teacher gifts...

I'm super blessed to teach in an amazing district where I get lots of sweet and wonderful Christmas and end of the year gifts.  These were two of my favorites this year....
The one below is filled with a GC and colorful Sharpies...fun!
One of my others I forgot to photograph was a Barnes and Noble GC for me and a huge beach bag with summer toys and supplies for all my kiddos (4 of everything!)

When your kiddos are in school, it's super fun to go all out for a creative gift...but if you don't have the time or $$$, it really means a lot to send a TY note in June.  Just a little note to say what you loved about the year goes so far.  Being a teacher is super emotional and relational and we really take each and every kiddo personally.  Sometimes at the end of the year, after pouring my heart and time into specific, more high maintenance students, I find myself bummed when nothing comes in...not even an email.  It makes me think, man, maybe they were dissatisfied or didn't notice the extra TLC or help I've been dishing out for the last 175 days.
Just food for thought as your kiddos embark upon the journey of school...

In the meantime, I think I'll start enjoying that first gift up there!

Last Day of School Ice Cream

My friend Jenny's family always gets ice cream after school on the last day even if it ruins your dinner, because that's just how you should celebrate, right?
We decided that tradition sounded just about perfect to begin in our own family.
yum.

give it a try...

This happened...

There is a very large sigh of relief that happens every last day of first grade.
feels good.
