Fashionista...

People always ask about the differences between the twins...and frankly I think they are more alike than different.  They seem to have similar personalities and both seem pretty loud and outgoing...(not sure where they get that from...) but Eliza definitely has the edge when it comes to having opinions on outfits and fashion and hair accessories.  Here she is with Addie's skirt and hairband...that she put in herself....
fancy, right?

And she has been known to yell, cry, or try to remove Olivia's shirt if she likes it better than her shirt.  Hmmmm...let's hope maybe Olivia stays a bit more easy-going on this topic...

You heard it here first...

I think Sam might become a dentist when he grows up.
Sure he "says" he wants to be an astronaut and go explore the volcano on Mars
(technically he says he wants to go into the volcano...but I digress...)
But he's crazy on brushing his teeth right now...
and he just told me he had some "plague" left on his teeth.
And he's four...
I'm just saying...if in 15 years I'm making a post about Sam's dental school options...you can remember that I predicted it at age 4.

That or the Mars volcano.
just saying...

Twin Ambassador...

Ever since I nearly fell off the ultrasound table approximately 2.5 years ago, I'm certain that I've become a twin ambassador to all other twins, Moms of twins, or cute older people who oogle at twins everywhere.  So it was no wonder that when I found out one of my cousin's (on my Mom's side) was having twins I just chuckled and smiled and emailed Meredith immediately.  And if you need a reminder of the amazingness of God's creations...check out her ultrasound pics here on her blog:

Congratulations Meredith and Kirby...
so excited for you and your soon-to-be much bigger family...
here's to twins...

Snow Day!

Yesterday we got a nice, hefty snowstorm which resulted in snowday #4 for yours truly.  It was actually the first "snow" day...the rest have all been cold days...
And it was no wonder...
Those little green things poking out below are the tops of our Christmas trees that line our driveway...

Poor Mike...did we mention we almost sold our snow blower when we moved...
Good thing we didn't do that SILLY idea.

And of course I send the big kids out but brought some in for the little girls!

And made some baby snowmen

I'm about done with snow...but it was fun to play at home with the kiddos yesterday.

Tea Party ready...

Addie got invited to a fancy tea-party birthday party last weekend.
It involved a fancy dress and curly hair (doesn't A's hair curl well?)...
And just in case you think I have it all together...we got all ready for the party, woke the girls up from their naps to take her, arrived right on time...

and then realized the party was on Sunday, not Saturday.
errrr....
nice.

And I thought we were surprised...

My friend Megan sent me that story...she likes to keep it real for me
;)

100th Day Shirt

If you didn't know, the 100th day of school is a BIG deal in elementary schools.
It has lots to do with building number sense and math work...
but it's also plain fun...
So last year and this year have been totally fun to celebrate with Addie too!
This year we had to make a shirt, necklace, hat, etc with 100 things on it...
clearly I pinterested ideas and gave Addie some ideas of things I had seen in the past...
but the idea online with 100 gems was an obvious win when it came to my favorite girly girl...
Love everything fun about elementary school...

Setting up for battle

When you have a boy, there is a lot of serious business that gets done between the point of tucking them in and actually falling asleep...
like setting up for battle.
duh, mom.

from the First Grade Files

(during a social studies lesson on the difference between needs and wants)

student: What about toilet paper, is it a need or a want?
me: well....what do you think?
s2: well, I think it's a need...that's just gross.
s3: but they didn't always have toilet paper and those people lived
me: true...
s4: it's not...
s5: my Mom says it is a need

(later...aside...in a whisper voice...)
s6: "Mrs. Medved...guess what...when no one is looking, I sneak away and go to the bathroom outside."

Sneaky Eliza

When you leave your two year olds alone for five minutes while you help your 'big' kids, you never know what might happen...
like Eliza...finding the suckers...

And then eating them.
three to be exact.
simultaneously.

mom-of-the-year.

Minions!

If you haven't seen any of the Despicable Me movies you probably don't know about minions...
but Sam does...
and he loves them.
So Aunt Kelly got him some for Christmas.
They are his prized possessions and he keeps them in his special lunchbox.

Sometimes Sam sets them up and sometimes we play "Hide the Minion" where one of us hides our eyes and the other hides the minions.  You know...in hilarious places like the toilet of the dollhouse!
ha!
Happy Minion Monday.

Building...snow days

Mama might have been getting a bit stir crazy with all those snow days and'cold' days off we've been having.  It's been too cold to go anywhere.
The good news is that we've been reaching into the deep corners of all toys to find something new and exciting.
Hello building bricks...haven't seen you since the move...

I think I almost drank a whole cup of coffee during this play session.
and that is a victory.
