Budding Gardener...

Eliza was watching me plant bulbs the other day and she followed suit...

I cracked up when I noticed where she was transplanting the dirt...

And eating it...

And bringing it inside!
ha!

Taco taco

If you know Sam you know that he is a picky eater.
(cue the "it's your fault" music)
So we nearly cracked up when he made a 'taco taco' out of two shells because he refused to eat any of the fillings.  :)

pet stains...tip of the day...

Our new house had some super nasty cat stains on the carpet upstairs...while replacing the carpet we were relieved to find out the stains didn't make it to the boards...
but the nice carpet installer said if you paint it with latex paint it should take care of any stains which did...
we painted anyway, just in case.
:)
at 10pm...apologies for the dark pic

Meeting Georgiana

The newest baby in the Abel family seems to be taking to our clan quite well.  And miss Addie can barely wait to hold the little bit...

Playing School

I knew it was inevitable and while I wanted to outfit Addie with all the supplies necessary to play school I decided to let nature take its course.
Apparently while I was away Addie decided it was time to start playing school:

San Antonio Girls' Weekend

When I usually refer to girls' weekends they've always been about my college girl friends...
I'm not sure what's taken us so long, but my Mom and sis and finally took trip recently to Texas.
San Antonio to be exact.
Which might be one of the cutest cities in our country.
They have the most darling riverwalk with all sorts of restaurants and shops and fun places to relax and have a drink.

We took two boat rides!

Shopped at the local artisan village and hit up a giant Mexican market...

Clearly we got churros...

Checked out a local art museum...

And had cocktails...lots of cocktails...

Had the most yummy dinner at Budroe's on the River...
a *must* if you travel to SA

We sampled four types of queso in three days...
impressive right?

Back to more culture and history at the Alamo..

And now back to food and drinks...that was my favorite margarita....I think I tried 6 flavors. It was a malibu margarita...

Hello delicious enchilada...I'd like to eat you again.
Thanks to Mom and Shell for a most wonderfully relaxing weekend and a
big thanks to Mike and his helpers for enabling my weekend away and taking such good care of the littlebits.

Antiques Road Show...Ode to Mom and Marlene

This summer, as we were preparing for the move 2013, I scored some furniture from a relative's house.  My Aunt Marlene was renovating my great Uncle's house and helped with the cause of my large family...
I brought home two dressers and a kitchen cabinet piece.  That was amazing.
But the "amazing" doesn't stop there...
See then, my dear mother refinished them all for me.  That involved lots of sanding, stripping, and trips to Sherwin Williams.  On my way out of the house Marlene and I discussed this guy:

Mom says it's called a "dry sink" and was used as storage back in the day.  When I 'inheritted' it...it was a not-so-stunning medium wood stain.
Enter the amazingness that is my Mom and paint...

And some sweet shelf paper...
And, for all my relatives that remember this piece...I solemnly swear it will always contain licorice.
My only regret is that I didn't take "before" pics!
Thanks Mom and Marlene!

Mini Cheer Camp

Addie had her first little extra-curricular event at her new school!  Here she is at a football game doing some cheering!  So fun!
We need to work on the sound on these...
will figure it out soon!  Sorry!
