Secret Confessions...

1. Mike plays Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO to calm down screaming babies. 2. I really (don't judge me) want to try the new Doritos-shell taco at Taco Bell. Now, I haven't eaten at Taco Bell in probably a year. It's {supposedly} not very healthy so I try to avoid it. But, truth be told, I really want to try that new taco. And if wanting that is wrong, I don't want to be right. Mike says it's disgusting and I'm not allowed...which means I want to eat it even more. I'm going to have to take a stealth mission one day when he's at work. Don't tell. I'll let you know how it is.

Maui Day 1

A year ago today, we got to Maui! I'm going to try and post some vids of the trip. Todays is us checking out the Banyon tree in Lahiana. This tree in the video is all one tree.

Ready to smile...

Betcha this will do it... We weren't sure quite when the girls would smile. The pediatrician said it could be a month-6 weeks delayed since the girls were born early. Not too shabby...7 weeks...about one week later than full-term babies our beautiful girls shared their first smiles with us. ;) Perfect motivation for mommies and daddies who've had 10 weeks of broken-nights sleep.

Potty talk...

In a matter of 90 minutes today Addie peed everywhere while attempting to stand up and pee.   (Sam's currently mastering this task.)  Lovely.

And Sam came running out full steam, crying because...(drum roll please)

He had flown his airplane in the bathroom and it fell in the toilet.  Luckily, the potty had just been cleaned after event no. 1.  And luckily his Mommy loves him enough to retrieve it.  Or buy new planes.  I'll never tell...

I'm already in there...

Jen and I had a very humorous parenting experience about a month ago that needs to be cataloged for the ages.  I woke up for one of the early morning feedings, maybe around 3 oclock, grunted, and threw the "hey it's time to get up" elbow.  Jen, rolls over and says to me, "Mike, I'm already in there."  I sat mystified for a moment, then told her we needed to get out of bed and go handle the girls.  Rather peeved this time, she tells me, "Mike, seriously, I'm already in there!"  So I shrug and go in the nursey to check.  And see if my wife is in there.  My wife who is asleep in the bedroom.

Well, needless to say, she wasn't in the nursery.  So I went back into our bedroom and said, "Uh, Jen, you're not in the nursery."  Jen said, "Oh."  Then got up and went to handle the babes.

Oh sleeep deprivation!

Addie's getting quite into playing these days.  She's really good at parades:

And princess fashion shows:

And, just in case you were wondering, Noah and his animals are ready for a flood if our toliet should get clogged.  :)

A few weeks ago I decided we should totally make a mural using about 1000 fairy stickers we had found in our craft closet.

This is what a room looks like with 2 children and 2 babies when you're trying to make a mural...

Here's the finished project:

Addie added God.  Love.

Sam made a mural too.  He's obsessed with whales currently.  Remember, we saw them in the metroparks?

My sweet cousin Kristen had baby Ava in December.  I was mildly super jealous over how great she looked during our pregnancies!  {darn you twin babies}  We got the girls together and decided they will be great playmates.  Look how cute.

Ellie doesn't look all that sure in this pic...I'm pretty sure she's wondering why Ava is in yellow and not the stanadard pink outfit she and Liv are wearing...

Spring has sprung...

Yesterday in Cleveland was gorgeous!  The rest of the week is supposed to be nice too!  I can't wait.  In honor of spring, I have my own little bunnies!

Check out these adorable hats made my mom's friend, Lorraine! They are too cute!

Tummy time

Babies don't really enjoy tummy time.  I'm not sure why.  I love sleeping on my belly.
Or sleeping, really, in general.

A Keeper...

Did I mention somehow, in the midst of all things twins, Sam decided to become potty-trained?
I. love. him.

And I must say, that boys look flipping ADORABLE in tiny superman briefs.  Oh goodnes.  It's too darling. Maybe because he's my only boy, but I crack up when he's running around in his skivvies.

Some of my dear teacher friends have stopped by to meet the girls over the last few weeks.  They brought us dinner, snuggled the babies, and even helped man the children during an unfortunate bout of stomach flu for Addie!  (ha!)  Unfortunately in my rather (duh) state I missed snapping a pic of one of my visits with Megan and Jackie.  Sigh.  You'll just have to come back.

That's my dear sub Brooke who thought she was just my sub starting mid-Febuary!  Haa!  Try November 8th.  And that's Lisa, my partner in crime that helps with my special-needs kiddos.

That's Chelsea.  Can't remember if I blogged this pic yet.  She left me for kindergarten.  But I forgave her when she suffered through me and my children during two days of Christmas break bedrest.  I.owe.her.

Grandma Skills

Seriously, take a look at these mad grandma skills.  I'm pretty sure they've earned their "grandma of twins" merit badge.  :)

So sleeping was worse and now it's a bit better. People always ask where they sleep...we've always thrown our kids right into their cribs. We've never used bassinets. I'm not sure why, just never have. Eliza and Olivia sleep in one crib now until they start to roll and then we'll separate them. Here they are all snug as a bug...

lent fail

what can I say?  fail

Everything embarassing happens to us at Target...

I'm not sure if you remember the time that Addie fell down in the middle of Target...
She looked back at Mike...very indignantly...
And yelled (loud enough for all nearby customers to hear...)

"Daddy, Don't run me over with the cart!"

It was a proud moment.

So yesterday was Addie's parent-conference at preschool and on the way home we stopped at Target to pick up diapers (shocking, I know...)  My Mom was home with the babies so I just had Addie and Sam.  We pulled in next to another minivan (they're popular at Target, if nowhere else) with a gentleman and a little girl getting out.  It looked like he could have been the grandpa and the girl was his granddaughter.  Sam announces, and I quote,

"Lookat dat stinky old man.  Now we can't go inta Target."

WHAT?  WHAT?  I nearly choked.  The man was slightly older, but clearly NOT stinky.  Where in the world did he get that?  I don't call anyone stinky (or old for that matter)!  AHHHHA.

I did what every mortified mother would do and squatted down next to Sam (secretly praying that the man wouldn't come back and chastise me as a morally reprehensible mother) and told Sam in no uncertain terms that his comments were mean and not nice and....

You get the picture.  How horrid.  If a two-year old ever says anything mean to you in Target, I swear, he doesn't mean it and his Mom isn't really without a moral compass.  I'm still cringing.
