Sure we'll have to pay for 2 more weddings and zillions of prom dresses and who knows what else. I'm sure at least a few dance recital costumes, etc...but it's SO worth it for bows and ruffle bums. I can't stand the cuteness...

We're a bit bleary-eyed recently--the results of several mediocre nights of sleep in a row.  But, this was too blog-worthy not to post:

Addie:  Mommy...
Me: Addie, you're supposed to be in bed.  You're not supposed to be coming down again.
Addie: I know but my knee hurts and my neck and I'm not feeling good.
Me: What's wrong?
Addie: Everything hurts.
Me: I already gave you some medicine for your cough Addie, that will help everything.  It's time for bed.
Addie: I think some hot chocolate would help.

{can't blame a girl for trying...}

Tiny Dancer

Well, our new dance studio has observation day once a year. This bothers some dance moms.  They get all twitchy that they can't see their little ones pirouette around the studio.  Being a teacher I totally get the once a year thing.  At our old studio, the girls spend half their time running out the open door to see Mom and didn't get much dancing done at all.  It was okay for Addie's first year, but this new studio is a much better fit.  So cute.  Addie's recital dance number is a circus theme and if that doesn't have all kinds of cute written all over it, I don't know what does.  Adorable.  I'm excited already and the recital isn't until June.  Yay!

Extremely obvious observation

Observation - these kids are always going to be here... like all the time.  I know that I've been a father for almost 5 years, but it struck me today in a moment of clarity.  Seriously, they'll be around all the time, at least for the next decade or so.

So yesterday was our friend Megan and Steve's baby dedication for their son Eli.  It was so special.  Check out their blog:

{It was also the second day I might have worn my jeans.  And not my maternity jeans either.  And sure, they were my "larger" jeans and not my "smaller jeans," but they didn't have elastic in them or a belly panel.  And for that I'm grateful. Those twins and bedrest but a serious halt on my post-delivery bounce-back}

And it snowed in Cleveland this weekend.  Finally.  Pretty sure it was like 3 inches.  I think I might have moved to Tennessee and not actually noticed.

The girls had their 1 month check up today!  They officially weigh 7_7 and 7_8. {Funny fact is that they were "due" today!}

And a new family pic...

Our never imagined, never planned on family of six.

"Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think"

In case...

In case you're ever at our house and want to use the vacuum..(volunteers always welcome)...and you're looking for the attachement...and Sam is home...then you may want to check the toliet.

Just saying.

Apparently the little clippy space where it attaches on the vacuum body makes too much sense.

3 Weeks!

Our sweet girls are three weeks old (almost 4!)...and what's more ironic, is that next week was my original due date!  Ahh!  How lucky I got to snuggle them 5 weeks early.  Here are some fun recent pics.  Check out the homemade outfits from my sister and the cute gray sweatsuits from Steve's Mom, Linn.  {love}  You'll also see my favorite tummy time shots and the upside to our family funeral is that Aunt Michelle got a unplanned visit with the girls!  Yay!

In case your interested, the sleeping has gotten a bit less wonderful.  But, we're still doing fairly well for such young twins.  Thanks for your love via cards, emails, comments, phone calls, and texts.  We appreciate them all.  ;)

My Mom's sweet uncle passed away last week of colon cancer at age 89.  What a sweetie.  You'll be missed Uncle Mike.  Pretty sure the arrival in heaven was spectacular though.  He lost his wife more than 40 years ago and a brother almost 30 years ago.  Pretty neat reunion, I'd bet.

First Baths

{Note: I'm blogging this while holding Eliza-}

We gave the girls their first baths last weekend after the umbilical cords came off and it was so fun.  I love baby baths.  It's so fun to watch their reaction.  Addie screamed bloody murder the entire time and tried to get out of the tub by straining her neck so far up.  Hilarious.  Sam was equally as appalled that we would dunk him in a tub of water naked.  Poor buddy cried the whole time.

Enter the girls.  Both girls reacted the exact same way, pure fear for 2.5 seconds and then "Ahhh...this is kind of nice."  They calmed down so quickly I missed the shot of Eliza crying all together.  Apparently these girls are a-ok with a warm soapy soak.  Olivia went first.  You'll see her wrapped up in a towel and then came Eliza.  The final shot shows the cute finished product.  You'll also note that we waited until putting Addie and Sam in bed before bathing the girls.  But on this night, like many, the older two broke out of their rooms in time to see Eliza's bath.  I didn't have the heart to shoo them away.  So fun.  Enjoy.
