2 months and counting...

Sam is two months old now! His personality is beginning to emerge. He loves his swing and has a sweet smile. He likes to see Addie and watch is froggy mobile. He's sleeping one big block at night until about 3 or 4..so I can definitely handle that. I'm still holding out for the whole night but these things take time, right? We love our little boy!

becoming Martha Stewart (or not)

Last Thursday Addison (with no prior notice) projectile vomited in the mall food court. I also melted some of my basement carpeting while doing a craft project involving a heat gun. I am far from Martha Stewart. All in one day. Seriously.

Madison hates dairy too.

Our friend Peggy and Dustin had a baby about 2 weeks before we had Sam. Here she is...isn't she cute? Ironically Madison, Addie, & Sam all hate milk protein. Apparently they had this huge plot up in baby-waiting-to-be-born heaven to deprive Peggy and me of all delicious cheese, ice cream, and chocolate. These kids owe us already...

Kansas friends move home!

It's with a bittersweet heart that we send best wishes off to our Chad and Sondra who moved back to Kansas early this month. We're so sad to see them go and have had the sheer pleasure of having them in our Bible study for the past few years. They (figure this...) decided to return home to their families in Kansas so they could share their beautiful son with his aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Chad also took a job as a pastor at a church back in Kansas. We're so thrilled for the two of them and all that they have to look forward to. We certainly can attest to the benefits of having family close by. If only Kansas wasn't so far from Cleveland. Best of luck guys...we'll miss you...

Smily Sam

Now I mentioned a few days ago about Sam's newly found smile...and this is the evidence to prove it. Ladies...watch out....

I also thought you might be interested in Addie covering up Sammy with some "bwankets." "Mama...Sammy needs bwankets." (apparently he needed like 12 bwankets) I went with it. I was just happy she wasn't poking him or searching for his belly button again.

Old true friends

It's amazing how wonderful your college friends are. Here we are more than 10 years since being freshmen and we are still part of each others' lives. It's hard to remember when we stopped going to frat parties and started potty-training our toddlers...but I'm so grateful we're still make time to see each other. This is Alison, Ted and their adorable son, Ian. Baby #2 is due in October.

Growing growing...

Sam continues to get bigger (10 lbs. now!) and he definitely started smiling this week! I think the smile might be my favorite milestone...that, and sleeping through the night. Too bad we haven't experienced anything close to that yet. Sam and I often spend large portions of the night on the couches downstairs. I'm getting really good at sleeping and holding a baby simultaneously. I'm pretty sure that he's just about to sleep through the night. I'm also pretty sure he hates milk protein like his big sister. Hmm....

Future OWU recruit...

My college girlfriends came up from Tennessee & Columbus to meet Sam! Although he can't join our sorority...we're recruiting him for future OWU class of 2027.

Two Kids Means...

Having two kids means....never actually finishing your morning coffee without warming it up 3-4 times. Even then, you find it half-full at 11am or your daughter knocks it over when you're changing your infant's diaper.

Confessions of a Drive-thru Mom: part 2

So we all recall how my daughter yells, "Nuggies...Fries, Mama" every time we drive by a fast food restaurant. You may remember that I assured you I don't feed my daughter happy meals (often). So recently I was driving through a McD's and warned her that I was just getting a "drink for Mommy" and we were having "no nuggies or fries." She happily responded, "drink for Mama... a mimi Coke." Yikes...my child knows that I order a Medium Coke. Ahhhhhh! "Mimi Coke" You can't make this stuff up!

Sammy Sammy

Well...baby Sammy Sammy (as addie calls him) is growing and has fit right into the family. I keep telling everyone he'd be perfect if he'd sleep. Some nights we see each other each hour! :) Last night, though, he proved me wrong and slept from 10:30-3am! Wow...I feel like a new woman. Hopefully we've turned a new corner.
